The overall objective of this project is to strengthen the participation, policy-formulation and advocacy capabilities of Kosovo Serb civil society organizations (CSOs) at central-level institutions in Kosovo, in order for the diverse interests of minority communities, in particular those of the Kosovo Serb community, to be more accurately reflected in central-level decision-making processes, government policy and national strategies. Towards this aim, the advocacy platform Empirika, here led by NGO AKTIV, will conduct three sets of activities (SoAs; excluding the planning and preparation activities) that will achieve three main results:
1) SoAs 1: Initiatives that increase the participation and monitoring capacities of Kosovo Serb CSOs at central level institutions, government consultative mechanisms and national policy platforms; –> Result 1) Increased participation, cooperation and communication of Kosovo Serb CSOs at central-level institutions decision-makers, and improved capacity to closely monitor ongoing cultural, social, political and economic developments.
2) SoAs 2: Initiatives that support the professionalization of Empirika member organizations’ policy formulation and policy-deliverance skills and assist their policy-writing processes; –> Result 2) Increased insightfulness of the Kosovo Government with problems of, and solutions to, minority (rights) issues in Kosovo, in particular those concerning the Kosovo Serb community.
3) SoAs 3: Initiatives to improve Kosovo Serb CSOs ability to advocate for policy-implementation and communicate policy-suggestions to central-level institutions and decision-makers; –> Result 3) Implementation of practical policy by central-level institutions for the advancement of minority rights in Kosovo, in particular those concerning the Kosovo Serb community.
This project is supported by the Kosovo Foundation for Civil Society (KCSF) program “EJA Kosovo”, which is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Sweden and the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The duration of the project is 14 months.
