Promoting Kosovo-Serbian Mutual Understanding through Media and Academic Cooperation

The Kosovo-Serbia dispute is a significant obstacle to their EU integration. Unresolved issues, such as sovereignty and minority rights, divert resources them essential domestic reforms. This prolonged conflict fosters disillusionment, nationalist narratives, and external influences, jeopardizing regional stability. Achieving a comprehensive agreement is crucial for both entities’ progress, EU enlargement, and lasting peace. Resolving the Kosovo-Serbia issue requires a multifaceted approach, combining diplomacy, conflict resolution mechanisms, and internal reforms. This approach is essential to create normalized, mutually recognized relations and ensure the stability and prosperity of both entities and the broader European integration process. In that regard, the crucial role in that process must rely upon the active civil society actors, which have the ability, expertise and the means to influence the long-term positive outcomes.

The proposed project is an integral part of a larger scheme which builds on the proactive initiative “Ways of Cooperation and Understanding carried out by the Embassies of the Czech Republic in Skopje and Sofia during the Czech Presidency in the EU Council. In order to amplify the impact by the synergic effect, it complements directly with another project “My Hero Your Enemy: Historical Narratives in National Identity Building in the CEE and SEE Region”, which was submitted to the International Visegrad Fund by the Czech NGO Institute for Modern Development.Use of language.
