Aktiv was founded in the divided city of Mitrovica. Since its inception in 2009, Aktiv has successfully implemented an array of projects and has become an active part of local civil society. It has cooperated with a number of both regional and international NGO’s and has played a vital role in the political and social development of N. Kosovo. Aber application offers the most important information to members of non-majority communities in Kosovo in one place and in their native language, both about the basic and the rights of non-majority communities and the institutions and mechanisms that citizens can turn to in order to defend those rights.

Objectives

Objectives

 To provide an inclusive and sustainable framework for citizens’ comprehensive participation in the decision-making process at local and central government level in Kosovo.

Development of legal and policy frameworks pertaining to non-majority rights reflective of their genuine needs and implemented in a substantive manner.

To actively engage decision/policymakers in order to improve the implementation of legal frameworks safeguarding the rights of non-majority communities.

 Promote and enhance interethnic cooperation and understanding as a foundation of a tolerant and democratic society.

Incidents in the north of Kosovo have lately become more frequent, and citizens’ lack of trust in Kosovo Police and institutions is growing. Many residents feel insecure and express their concerns regarding the number of cases that occur on a daily basis in their communities.   

We therefore invite all citizens to contact us and report the following incidents:

Your report is crucial for documenting all irregularities, negligence, and non-compliance with the law, so that we jointly appeal to the international community to ensure respect for the constitutionally and legally guaranteed rights of non-majority communities in Kosovo.
