The State of Reconciliation in Kosovo
A two-day conference to be held in the Civic Energy Center in North Mitrovica
on the 12th and the 13th of April 2022
Two decades after the secession of hostilities in Kosovo, the nature of inter-ethnic relations remains ambiguous. Despite significant investment and effort on the part of the international community and the civil society sector, Kosovo Albanians and Kosovo Serbs lack common ground, and indeed a shared conception of what reconciliation is and in what manner it can be achieved. This conference will address a number of open-ended questions connected to this issue in an atmosphere that fosters constructive debate. Eminent panelists from various walks of public life will examine and deconstruct the nature of the role of the media and civil society in the reconciliation process and, for the first time, will also consider the role of Kosovo’s smaller non-majority communities and their relationship with the two larger ethnic groups.
