The discussion entitled “The Future of Prospects of Interethnic Relations in the Mitrovica Region” was held on March 23, 2023 in North MItrovica, organized by the NGO AKTIV in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
The event feature two panelists, Aferdita Syla, Executive Director of Community Building Mitrovica and Milica Andric-Rakic, a policy analyst with the New Social Initiative (NSI) and was moderator by journalist Anamarija Ivkovic.
Panelists addressed a number of pressing issues in terms of the cross-community relationship in the Mitrovica region, including how recent tensions have affected the level and frequency of interaction between the two groups.
In general, it was agreed that much work has to be done on bringing the two communities closer together, but that there are nonetheless, reasons for optimism.
The debate included local activists and institutional representatives.
