Non-governmental organizations, members of the Empirika Platform, strongly condemn the behaviour of the Serbian police during the day-long detention of Mrs. Rada Trajković.
On Friday, the Serbian police held Mrs. Trajković for several hours at the Merdare crossing after she attempted to enter Kosovo and then for nearly 24 hours upon her return.
“Due to Ms. Trajković’s deteriorating physical condition, this ordeal was only ended by the intervention of emergency medical personnel. It is unacceptable that, without any legal basis, Serbian citizens’ freedom of movement and health are endangered, something which is otherwise indicative of a lack of respect for democracy and rule of law”, the Empirika Statement concludes.
