Conversations with Citizens on Enhancing Transparency and Fighting Corruption

In North Mitrovica and Zvečan, we spoke with citizens and activists about the fight against corruption and the importance of transparency. At the gathering titled “Roadmap for Fighting Corruption and Increasing Transparency”, the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Yll Buleshkaj, addressed the attendees.

This event is part of a broader discussion on plans and strategies to enhance transparency and reduce corruption in municipalities with a Serbian majority. Buleshkaj emphasized the importance of joint efforts by citizens and institutions in combating corruption, highlighting that only through open communication and collaboration can we achieve concrete results.

The ABER application was also presented at the event. This innovative tool is designed to help detect and report corruption. It allows citizens to anonymously report suspicious activities, thereby increasing their safety and encouraging active participation in the fight against corruption.

During the discussion, citizens and activists shared their experiences and the challenges they face in their communities. They stressed the need to improve transparency in local government operations to build trust and ensure accountability.

The conclusion was that the fight against corruption is a long-term process requiring continuous education, cooperation, and support from all societal actors.
