We invite you to attend the presentation of the report by NGO Aktiv, which analyzes the challenges of local governance and security in the Serb-majority municipalities in northern Kosovo. The report provides a detailed analysis of the current situation, with a particular focus on the period following local elections.
By examining existing challenges, the report raises a key question – the situation after the establishment of local governments that, although formally in place, in practice fail to meet the needs of citizens and remain fundamentally ineffective. This analysis addresses issues crucial for the future of local democracy and institutional functionality in the region, including:
• the level of citizens’ trust in local self-government institutions, • the role of civil society and local security mechanisms in stabilizing communities, • potential models of cooperation between authorities and communities to improve service quality, • prospects in the context of the upcoming local elections.
The aim of the report is to contribute to the dialogue on reintegration and the establishment of sustainable and legitimate local structures that serve the interests of all citizens.
The report is published within the framework of the project “Mitrovica Social Club: Rule of Law and Human Rights Perspective”, implemented with the support of UNMIK.
