We're hiring! Open call for one (1) Liaison Officer

On the 1st of October 2020, Aktiv began initial work on a two-year project that will seek to increase the advocacy potential of Kosovo Serb non-governmental organizations. The project involves a series of actions centered on advocacy and policy analysis and creating synergies between the two in order to strengthen the presence and the voice of Kosovo Serb non-governmental organizations on various decision making and institutional processes.

 

 

More specifically, the project will identify key areas in which advocacy needs to be established and/or strengthened and the way in which Kosovo Serb NGOs can articulate the needs of the communities that they represent, and to offer concrete and sustainable mechanisms through which those NGOs can participate in decision-making processes.

For the purpose of this action, AKTIV will recruit a Liaison Office, to coordinate and assist in the implementation of the above-mentioned project.

Tasks

Under direct supervision of the Head of the NGO Policy Office, the Liaison Officer will:

 

  • Work with the NGO Aktiv Policy Office to strengthen the Civil Liaison Office in Prishtinë/Priština;
  • Work to establish and facilitate new channels of communications between NGO Aktiv, its’ civil society partner organizations and central-level institutions and political actors;
  • Work with the NGO Aktiv Policy Office to develop and launch new advocacy initiatives;
  • Liaise with central-level decision makers, media outlets and institutional representatives in the goal of furthering NGO Aktiv’s advocacy work;
  •  Plan and facilitate advocacy meetings between representatives of NGO Aktiv, its civil society partners and   central-level decision makers, media outlets and institutional representatives;
  • Provision of written translations from Albanian-English and vice versa.

 

Duty station:

The Liaison Officer will be based in NGO Aktiv’s Civil Liaison Office in Prishtinë/Priština with occasional duties in North Mitrovica and periodic travel (within Kosovo) as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • University-level degree in social sciences, law or another related field;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Kosovo political system;
  • Between 2-3 years of professional working experience;
  • Knowledge of Kosovo’s civil society sector;
  • Sound organizational and administrative skills;
  • Familiarity the Kosovo’s legal framework, particularly when it comes to the rights of non-majority communities and extensive knowledge of Kosovo’s socio-political dynamics and issues/challenges affecting non-majority communities
  • Fluency in the English language (written and spoken);
  • Fluency in Albanian and/or Serbian (written and spoken) including the ability to translate documents and other texts.

Modality of Recruitment:

The local consultants will be recruited through advertisement. This ToR will serve as a basis for the vacancy notice.

Duration of contract:

The period of engagement is twelve months pending a three-month probation period. There remains a possibility for further employment/engagement with NGO Aktiv after the end of the project.
