Study visit to Brussels

Pontis Foundation have organized study visit to Brussels for think-thanks representatives from North Kosovo. The visit was funded by US Embassy in Slovakia. The aim of the visit was to meet with experts working with Western Balkans/Kosovo from European Union institutions and NGOs and present relevant research and their work.

NGO Aktiv representative, Marija Stankovic, presented Shadow report on Kosovo Progress report, conducted by Platform for Analyze and Research as well as policy briefs on access to documents, implementation of the agreement on cadastre and education rights in Kosovo. During the visit North Kosovo researchers met representatives of European External Action Service, Thomas Busch and Marica Cicconi and discussed current political situation in Kosovo.  

Meetings with representatives of European Stability Initiative, Centre for European Policy Studies and Concord Europe served as an opportunity for gaining information and advice regarding policy and advocacy work. Velina Lilyanova, Policy Analyst from European Parliament External Policies Unit, shared her experiences and explained the functioning of this Unit.

North Kosovo CSOs had the opportunity to meet with David Cullen Head of Unit D.3 –FYROM and Kosovo Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission and discusses the findings of the research and the role of the European Commission in Kosovo. Researches were hosted by Edvard Kukan, European Parliament member and Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee.

The visit was particularly significant since it provided the insight into functioning of Brussels-based think-tanks and European Union decision making processes.
