Sixth General Assembly of Platform for Analysis and Research



On the sixth General Assembly of Platform for Analysis and Research held in North Mitrovica on 17.10.2016, new leadership of the coalition was chosen and new coalition agreement signed.

The coalition agreement states that Platform for Analysis and Research (PAR) is a coalition of NGOs and individual researchers, activists of the civil sector. PAR was first established on 2nd April 2015 as a coalition of 15 NGOs and their delegated members. PAR was formed as part of the EU-funded project entitled “Strengthening capacity of the CSO's in Northern Kosovo to become more effective contributors in decision making process” implemented by AKTIV and CPT.

After 15 months of project implementation, the 25 members of PAR underwent a series of capacity building activities:

  1. Training in research methodology and policy research design
  2. Training in writing policy analysis and policy proposals
  3. Training in monitoring, advocacy, lobbying and legislative drafting
  4. On the job training and mentoring for CSOs Platform members by Belgrade, Prishtina and Brussels based think tanks

Each of the trainings were followed by concrete documents, produced as a result of the capacity building activities.

By the end of July 2016, Par published following documents:

  1. Views of the citizens in north Kosovo. Political, economic and security aspects.
  2. Quality of translation of Kosovo laws into Serbian language.
  3. The opportunities for involvement of Serb community in the process of EU integration.
  4. Report on the observation of legislative bodies in Kosovo.

In the following period, PAR will work on the preparation of the shadow report to EU’s yearly Progress Report. This report will cover all of the topics and events which are of significance to the north Kosovo and Kosovo Serb community in general. This project is funded by the SlovakAid and Pontis Foundation.

In addition to this, PAR will also continue the monitoring of the central level legislative bodies (Committee on Rights, Interests of Communities and Returns, Committee for European Integration, Committee on Internal Affairs, Security and Supervision of the Kosovo Security Force and Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee). These activities are funded by EU Office in Kosovo and KCSF.

The new leadership elect of PAR are:

·         Svetlana Đurić, President of Platform for Analysis and Research

·         Miloš Timotijević, Vice President of Platform for Analysis and Research

The platform now counts 11 of organisations ant their representatives and 6 individual researchers and civil society activists.
