Presentation of Municipal Transparency Index 2019



Municipal Transparency Index 2019 was presented today in Pristina, in the Hotel Emerald, a research conducted by Kosova Democratic Institute and NGO Aktiv, which aim is to to acquaint the public with the level of transparent work of 38 Kosovo municipalities during last year.

During the presentation of the Transparometer 2019, director of Policy Office of NGO Aktiv Caleb Waugh emphasized that local government is the first line between the state and citizens. He also pointed out that good transparency and accountability of institutions who serve citizens' needs is crucial for consolidating good governance at the local level. Notwithstanding the fact that there are many problems and challenges in Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo, considerable efforts have been made in these municipalities to improve the overall transparency.

The research and Transparometer 2019 were supported by the British Embassy in Pristina, as part of the project Increase accountability of local government institutions in northern part of Kosovo.
