On June 17th, 2019 NGO AKTIV organized a final conference within the project ’’Capacity development of Coordination Mechanism members to implement Domestic Violence Action Plans in seven municipalities in Kosovo’’ under the UN Women Programme “Ending Violence against Women: Implementing Norms, Changing Minds”.

The purpose of organizing the conference was to present the draft of the report on implementation of the local action plans for protection from all forms of domestic and gender based violence in seven municipalities in Kosovo for 2017 and 2018.  The final conference was attended by coordinators of the Coordination Mechanisms:

Ms. Zorica Timotijević- Coordinator of CM in municiplaity of Leposavic

Ms. Olivera Milošević- Coordinator of CM in municiplaity of North Mitrovica

Ms. Lindita Piraj- Coordinator of CM in municiplaity of Dragash

Ms.  Lyra Vula- Coordinator of CM in municiplaity of Djakovica

Mr. Srđan Vučinić- Coordinator of CM in municipality of Zubin Potok

Mr. Saša Gvozdić- Coordinator in municiplaity of Zvecan

Except of the coordinators of the CM, the conference was attended by the representative of the UN Women Ms. Linda Sanaja and the local expert Ms. Ardinana Gashi who worked on drafting a report on implementation of the local action plans with the help of the statistical data gathered by the coordinators of the CM.

The main conclusions of the coordinators were that is was necessary to work even harder and be extremely patient. What is needed is for everyone to work as one, including the institutions, i.e. decision makers. Furthermore, the domestic and gender based violence is a complex topic and regardless of certain improvements achieved within this project this is just a beginning of an extremely important activities that follows.

UN Women's Representative in Kosovo Ms. Linda Sanaja expressed her deepest gratitude to the coordinators and members of the Coordination Mechanisms for their dedication, hard work and patience during the project implementation, as well as to the project coordinator Ms. Jelena Milicevic. Furthermore, Ms. Sanaja pointed out that this is not the end, it`s just a half way of the final destination of everything that follows regarding the fight against domestic and gender based violence in Kosovo and the region.

Coordinators of the CM pointed out that the institutions were extremely helpful and interested in providing necessary information regarding the above mentioned topic. In addition, the institutions provided the significant information that were used for drafting of the report on implementation of the action plans in seven Kosovo municipalities. According to them, support of NGO AKTIV and UN Women was also vital during their work.

The main conclusions at the final conference were that is necessary to continue with the hard work with the special attention in monitoring the implementation of the action plans in all seven municipalities. In order to do so the Coordination Mechanisms need to continue working in the exactly same way as they previously did with the support of the NGO AKTIV, UN Women and the European Union who financed this project.

Findings, results, recommendations, as well as a comprehensive report on the implementation of the action plans to fight domestic and gender-based violence will soon be available on the web page, as well as on the Facebook page of the NGO AKTIV.
