Business fair in Mitrovica North

On September 28, AKTIV organized the “Business Fair” in North Mitrovica, inviting all businesses previously engaged within the project to present their products and match up with partners from other communities.

After 15 B2B meetings organized between February and August, and in response to specific needs expressed by local entrepreneurs, AKTIV organized the "Business Fair” as part of the “Conflict Transformation Program” with the aim to establish contacts between entrepreneurs that had no previous chance to meet, as well as fostering business opportunities across communities. Through the pairing of companies from the northern part with companies from other regions of Kosovo that share similar interests, both sectorial and cross-sector, AKTIV identified 19 MSMEs (offering products and services) that could exhibit their products (12 K-Serb, 7 K-Albanian).

The fair was inaugurated by Mr Aca Mitic, Project Manager at AKTIV, who welcomed guests and businesses, as well as presented the main features of the “Conflict Transformation Program”. Afterwards, the fair saw the presence of Mr Alexander Chavaria, Director at NDI Kosovo, Mr Valeri Christov, Bulgarian Embassy in Kosovo, representatives and participants of YEPIK (Youth Employment Promotion in Kosovo), a project implemented by GIZ Kosovo, as well as around 100 visitors from civil society, students, international organizations and citizens.

The “Business Fair” in Mitrovica was intended to boost opportunities for the development of MSMEs, offering to these the chance to promote their products and services, expand their markets, and evaluate potential partnerships for the enlargement of their networks through the whole Kosovo. This event gave its contribution to strengthen links between entrepreneurs from all communities, as well as created favourable conditions for private sector growth, which can have a direct impact on the lives and living standards of all communities living in Kosovo.

The “Business Fair” in Mitrovica was a remarkable success, having in mind that 19 businesses presented their products to around 100 visitors from civil society, students, international organizations and citizens. Recipients of “USAID AKT” granting program from all over Kosovo took part in our Mitrovica’s fair too (1 K-Serb and 1 K-Albanian business).

All business entities were very satisfied with the fair, expressed their willingness to participate in the future in such events and were thankful for the support they received.

The “Business Fair” activity was conducted within the framework of the “Conflict Transformation Program” funded by USAID and NDI, and implemented by NGO AKTIV and D4D.
