AKTIV is hiring!

NGO AKTIV has a pleasure to announce opening of a call for application for the following positions:

-       manager of Civil Energy Center (CEC)

-       up to four (4) internship positions – journalism, public relations

The Civic Energy Center is new project of AKTIV implemented in partnership with Kosovo Foundation for Open Society. All positions are based in Mitrovica with initial period of 10 months with possibility of extension. The deadline for application is September 4, 2015. Successful candidate will be expected to assume the duties mid September 2015. Terms of references and desired qualifications are published further down this article.

-       Menadžer Centra građanske energije

-       4 pozicije za stažiste u oblasti novinastva i odnosa sa javnošću

Centar građanske energije je novi projekat AKTIV-a koji se implementira u saradnji sa Kosovskom fondacijom za otvoreno društvo. Sve pozicije su stacionirane u Mitrovici i početni ugovori traju 10 meseci, sa mogućstvom produžetka ugovora. Rok za podnošenje prijava je 04.09.2015. Najuspešniji kandidat će početi sa radom od sredine septembra 2015. Opis posla i željene kvalifikacije su pobrojani u produžetku.


Civic Enegry Center Manager

The Manager will be in charge of leading the newly-established Civic Energy Center and the minimum expected duration of the contract is ten (10) months. The gross salary is 900 euros.  The main duties and responsibilities of the Manager include:
•       Take the lead responsibility for developing, implementing, improving, monitoring and evaluating programs and activities at the Civic Energy Center, in coordination with program partners;
•       Develop, nurture, and maintain effective partnership with various stakeholders, including, but not limited to: CSOs, associations, civil activists, community leaders, researchers, local and central level authorities, media representatives etc.
•       Recruit and manage beneficiaries (CSO activists, Media, local authorities, students and youth and other community members) to participate in programs and actively engage them to achieve overall objectives of programs, thus building and maintaining relations with community;
•       Lead the AKTIV team in implementation of Center’s programs; Mitrovica Social Club, Citizens’ Parliament, Advocacy Platform “Empirica” (working title) and EU Integration School, while applying the practices, quality assurances tools and principles adopted in AKTIV program implementation system;
•       Coordinate with the partner (DokuKinu) and with the donor (KFOS) in order to facilitate production of the talk show;
•       Manage operational and administrative functions to ensure specific events are delivered efficiently, including the preparations and publication of post event public information;
 •       Represent and promote the Centre in public, branding it a space of convergence for the general public;
 •       Perform regular (3-month basis) needs-assessment surveys among the most frequent users of the Centre in order to ascertain their precise event requirements and adjust the nature of services or prevent possible complications from repeating;
•       Submitting monthly reports about the events organized in the Centre including minutes and recommendations from every event;
•       Prepare small publications with the synopsis of the most important events of the month and disseminate them via e-mail;
•       Maintain and update information dissemination network consisted of social media profiles and AKTIV web site as well as web site of the Civic Energy Center.

We are looking for candidates who:

-       A four year (Bachelor’s) degree in social sciesnces, journalisms, public relations, political sciences and similar

-       A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing and overseeing the implementation of projects related to civil afairs, media and public relations 

-       Both written and spoken fluency in the English and Serbian languages, limited knowledge of Albanian would be seen as an advantage

-       Knowledge of the social, civil, economic and political dynamics in north Kosovo

-       Experience in project writing and development, particularly in the area of economic development

-       Experience in coalition building and networking

-       Familiarity and experience with the civil-society, public sector in north Kosovo would be seen as a strong advantage

-       Experience working in the private sector would be seen as an asset



NGO AKTIV is announcing a call for application for up to four (4) paid internship positions. The interns will be engaged in the newly-established Civic Energy Center and expected duration of the internship is five months (5) (two time lots September 2014 – January 2015 and February 2015-June 2015 with two positions each). The monthly internship reimbursment is set on 310 euros gross. The main duties and responsibilities of the interns, include, but are not limited to:

·         Assisting in organization and production of TV debates on popular social and political topics

·         Assisting in organization of public events

·         Establishing and maintaining regular communication with the local media

·         Perform other office task as requested by Project Manager or Executive Board

We are looking for candidates who:
•       Have a bachelor degree or are studying journalism, political or social sciences
•       Have experience writing news and articles on various topics and have interests in journalisms and public relations carierees
•       Have working knowledge of English
