2nd Coordination meeting on community safety, MikroNaselje/KodraMinatore, Mitrovica
Community outreach within the project" Community Safety in north of Kosovo"
NGO Aktiv coordination team have met with community leaders of Mikronaselje/KodraMinatore, ethnically mixed area in north of Mitrovica. At the meeting NGO Aktiv team discussed the formalization of the community cooperation framework through establishment of Community Safety Council of Mikronaselje/KodraMinatore. Community leaders supported the initiative and discussed in details the composition and objectives of the Council as well as time frame for inauguration session of the Council. It is agreed to initiate the efforts on drafting the Terms of Reference for Community Safety Council. Facilitation of this endeavor will fall upon NGO Aktiv coordination teams but will be performed with regular and extensive consultations with community leaders of Mikronaselje/KodraMinatore. Community leaders also discussed the burning security concerns in the Mikronaselje/ KodraMinatore identifying the safety of the children playground, subjected to vandalizing acts, as a community safety priority number one. In conclusions NGO Aktiv and community leaders agreed to design a "quick impact project" that will address the safety concerns at the joint children playground in Mikronaselje/KodraMinatore.
The meeting is part of community outreach efforts within the project " Community Safety in north of Kosovo" implemented in partnership with SaferWorld.
Final preparations for opening of Active Art Center
NGO Aktiv is in final phase of preparation for launching a new project; Active Art Center. AAC vision is to create and open center for promotion of cultural activities, where young individuals with artistic affiliations from the region can create their art pieces, promote their work through regular exhibitions, and sensitise community about social issues of importance for youth.
Furthermore, youth population of Mitrovica within Aktiv Art Centre will gain opportunity to attend or actively participate in various cultural events, alternative form of arts and socially affirmative cultural performances.
The overall project goal is to establish, empower and promote art activism practices as self-sustainable, participatory and influential mechanism for social change in targeted community.
All activities envisaged within this project in its substance, will connect, empower, sensitize, and strengthen pre-existing and/or potential (future) forms of cultural of activism in Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok. More information soon.
